What is Iridology?
Iridology is the science and practice of analyzing the iris, the most complex tissue structure in the human anatomy. The iris reveals the level of constitutional strength, inherited weaknesses, state of health and the transactions that take place in a person’s organs and tissues according to the way he lives.
Accurate analysis of iris structure and pigmentation provides information that is hard to find through other methods. This information is extremely valuable and includes physical, emotional, mental and spiritual findings. Iridology proves a more holistic context for the understanding of disease.Iridology is a safe, painless and non-invasive tool. At Gayer Clinic, we use an advanced and professional digital camera and microscope for taking eyes pictures (high resolution and x40 magnification). The Iris, Sclera and inner Papillary Border images are presented on a large screen for accurate analysis.
The benefits are to obtain an understanding of:
- What physical factors contributed to the present complaints
- How passed suppressions set up current problems
- What lifestyle and emotional factors have contributed to current situation
- Our inherited predisposition regarding tissues structure, metabolism, acidity, mucous, cholesterol, anemia, endocrine glands and more..
- What areas need support or treatment to increase vitality or to regain balance
- Our personality traits
- How passed traumas and stressors affect our life and causing illness
- How to maintain health and practice preventive medicine
The advantage of Iridology by Dr. Bernard Jensen
“Iridology offers a unique perspective to the concept and practice of preventive medicine. It is difficult to alert a person to the health problems their particular body will experience, using orthodox methods of analysis and diagnosis. These methods rely upon the appearance of clinical symptoms. The iris, however, can predict the problems long before disease symptoms are present. With this information, a health program can be developed which is tailored to the specific needs of the client, thus preventing the manifestation of the disease.”
The Health Status Equation by Dr. Bill Caradonna
In order to fully appreciate what the iris reveals, let's first consider this equation:
Health Status = Physical Inheritance + Environment (Diet, lifestyle, etc.) + Emotional/Spiritual Factors + Age.
We all inherit certain combinations of physical traits. We can observe some of these origins from our family tree, but how much this specifically affects you? Diet and lifestyle have a great impact on some people, but why are others able to get away with abusing their bodies? Which mental and emotional aspects significantly affect our physical health? And as we get older, we lose our resiliency at different rates. What is our individual rate?
Iridology takes a lot of the guesswork out of these questions. Going through life without this information is like taking a trip without a map. What are your chances of arriving at your desired destination? Will you get there efficiently, or end up taking many detours along the way? And how will you know where you are heading next?Using the road map or blueprint contained in the iris, you can find out how well you are put together (and how much abuse your body can handle), where your body will tend to get sick, (including which organ systems are at greater risk), what specific underlying reasons contribute to your symptoms (which may vary from person to person with the same symptoms), and what emotional or behavioral factors are influencing these patterns. In short, it can show you where you came from, where you are headed, what kind of body you have for a vehicle, and what type of driver you are. With this knowledge, you can more effectively approach health challenges and also identify which preventive medicine practices would be most important for you to pursue.
Anatomy of the eye
The eyes are extensions of the brain. There are 28,000 individual nerve fibers connect with every cell and the main body of the iris. The eyes transmit information to the visual cortex of the brain, but in addition it is connected with the limbic system, the emotional brain. The iris is connected to the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. Those control every organ in the body and keep the brain constantly informed concerning the metabolic status of each one. The iris nerves respond to chemical changes in the body. There is an adequate scientific basis to explain how it is possible for iris changes to be reflexly correlated with tissue changes elsewhere in the body.
The history of Iridology
Iridology may have begun in ancient Egypt and Central Asia over a thousand years ago. Ancient physicians examined the eyes and sclera of their patients to determine methods of treatment.
Modern Iridology started in the 1800’s. Dr. Ignatz Von Peczely (1826-1911) of Hungary, was the first practitioner and researcher in the field of Iridology. As a young boy, he caught an owl in his garden. In the struggle, he accidentally broke the bird’s leg. He observed a black stripe rising in the owl’s eye. Later he became a physician and never forgot the incident with the owl. Working in a hospital, he studied many eyes patients before and after surgery and did autopsies to confirm the existent of ailments he had diagnosed from the eyes of people before they died. During the same period in Sweden, a young boy 8 years old, named Nils Liljequist, began studying his own eyes while being sick and given certain medications. Later he continued his research and published his findings. If we look at the work of both of these researchers, we find many similarities in their Iridology maps although they never knew one another or had any communication.
In late 1800’s Pastor Felke from Sweden became a very famous Iridologist and there is an institute in Germany named after him. Henry Edward Lane, an Austrian Medical Doctor, brought Iridology to the USA.
During 1900’s there was no communication between Europe and the USA. In the USA, Dr. Bernard Jensen, known as the father of American Iridology, kept the candle burning for Iridology. He had been studying and writing Iridology for 70 years. In Germany, Josef Deck, Theodore Krieger, Rudolph Schnable and Josef Angerer were able to work with universities, hospitals, autopsies, and x-rays to verify their iris findings.
In 1982 Harri Wolf and Dr. Bill Caradonna, founded an organization called NIRA and brought the research information from America and Europe together. The name has changed to IIPA (International Iridology Practitioners Association).
Extensive research is taking place since by medical doctors and naturopaths all around the world. Multidimensional Iridology is being explored level by level. Dr. Lo Rito from Italy, the pioneer of Time Risk and E.C. Tech therapy. Time Risk is used to locate traumas in the iris and when they occur, whether they are emotional or physical. E.C. Tech is the therapy to release traumas on a cellular level. Dr. Lo Rito is also the leading authority of the study of the Inner Papillary Border (IPB), a tissue that represents the spinal cord plus physical and emotional information.
